Dr. Adel El Gamal

Dr. Adel Elgamal is a distinguished figure in pediatric and congenital heart surgery, recognized as a founding member of the World Society of Pediatric and Congenital Heart Surgeons (WSPCHS). In 2006, he pioneered a new subspecialty in cardiac surgery at Mansoura University, focusing on neonatal, congenital, and pediatric cardiac surgery. That same year, he founded the Congenital and Pediatric Cardiac Surgery Department at Mansoura University Children’s Hospital.

Dr. Elgamal has also held significant clinical roles in the United States, serving as a clinical fellow at the Department of Pediatric Cardiovascular Surgery at Children’s Hospital of Michigan from 1997 to 1999, and at the Department of Pediatric and Congenital Heart Surgery at Texas Children’s Hospital.

He is a professor of cardiothoracic surgery and a senior consultant of pediatric cardiac surgery at Mansoura University Children’s Hospital. Additionally, Dr. Elgamal is the medical director and chief surgeon at Ayesh Charitable Hospital in El Kurdi, Dakahlia.

Prof. Hani Najm

Professor and Chairman of the Department of Pediatric Cardiac Surgery, Cleveland Clinic, Ohio, USA.

Dr. Hani Najm, Chairman of the Department of Pediatric and Adult Cardiac Surgery, Cleveland Clinic, Ohio, received the Arab Genius Award in the category of medicine in recognition of his outstanding contributions in the field of cardiac surgery for adults and children, and congenital heart diseases.
Dr. Hani Najm contributed to the development of a heart valve that can grow inside the human body, especially children, as it can be implanted in the child’s heart with the ability to grow over the years to spare the child repeated operations.
Dr. Hani also contributed to the innovation of operations for complex congenital heart defects, to avoid placing them in the path of a single ventricle.
Dr. Hani Najm performed more than 10,000 heart operations for adults and children, and provided innovative practices and exceptional contributions in cardiac surgery, including his participation in a delicate surgical operation to remove a cancerous tumor in the heart of a fetus no more than 26 weeks old.

Dr. Ghada Shahin

Professor and Consultant of Robotic Cardiopulmonary Surgery Netherlands.

Dr. Ghada Shahin is a consultant of robotic cardiopulmonary surgery in the Netherlands. Shahin leads a team of surgeons to perform heart surgeries in third world countries. These annual trips to perform these operations began in 2001 in Yemen, and continued until 2005. Starting in 2009, she began performing annual operations in Egypt, first in Zagazig and for the past four years, her team has worked in Qena Governorate. In November 2019, she led a team of 17 cardiac surgeons and medical trainers. The team performed 12 open heart surgeries and organized several workshops on cardiopulmonary resuscitation for 100 medical students and 200 nursing staff from university hospitals.

Prof. Frank Edwin

Professor of Cardiac Surgery and Dean of the Ghana Medical College

Dr. Frank Edwin is a highly experienced physician who is currently the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Health and Allied Sciences, Ghana. He has extensive experience in pediatric cardiac surgery and congenital heart defects and holds leadership positions such as President of the African Society of Paediatric Cardiac and Congenital Surgery and Secretary of the World Society of Paediatric Cardiac and Congenital Surgery. He has been a cardiac surgeon at the National Cardiac Surgery Centre for over 20 years and has contributed significantly to the field of cardiac surgery in Africa.
